Honoring Veterans

 – By

Hand-Crafted display of a P-51 Mustang model, “Big Beautiful Doll” with barn siding as a runway and an aviation print from our gift shop. We’re proud to be a supporter of these projects, as they will help honor our veterans.
This handsome piece was made possible by US aviation buff, Tim Birkett. His large collection of built and still-in-the-box aircraft models was his hobby. He carefully selected and skillfully built each aircraft. After he passed away, his handsome collection came into the capable hands of Mr. Dave Wallace.

Dave used this model built by Mr. Birkett in fashioning the piece. He then used the other materials to fully complete the display. These pieces will be donated to veterans, VFW’s, and legions, to thank them for their support and the service they have given during their lifetimes. The SD Air and Space Museum is proud to be able to support this noble mission by providing prints to Dave so that he can continue making his great displays.

Most importantly, these projects say a heart-felt thank you to all of our noble veterans who proudly served and protected our families, our homes, and ultimately our lives. Thank you veterans!
These prints are also available in the museum gift shop, and you can check them out at the museum the next time you're in the Black Hills.
