2015 BBQ Finishes
The 2015 Santa Maria BBQ ended with smiles this year. A big thanks goes to the Deadwood Express Bluegrass Band for playing that evening and bringing spectacular music to the event. Another big "thank you" goes to all of our volunteers who made the event possible and helped get the traditional beef cooked and prepared. The auction was filled with South Dakota items from around our area, and the bidding was fun and enjoyable. We extend our sincerest gratitude to all of our guests who attended and helped support historic aviation and the museum for generations to come. We hope to see you again next year for another evening of fun, auctions, music, and beef! Thank you!
2015 Santa Maria BBQ
The 2015 Santa Maria BBQ annual event and auction is being held this September at the local VFW! All of our South Dakota raised beef is cooked over an open oak fire and then seasoned for a taste that's hard to beat. All of our tickets come with an additional raffle stub for a drawing to be held later in the event. Please call the museum at 605-385-5189 to reserve your ticket(s) for this special event.
The legendary BBQ is a tradition that has been held by the Missile Wing for years.

Just in time for the Fourth of July, Ellsworth marked B-1B desk models have landed at the gift shop! These handsome mahogany models are hand-carved, painted, and specially created with the markings of the 34th and 37th Bomb squadrons based at Ellsworth. The "Ogre" B-1's at Ellsworth are also well-represented with their own specially marked B-1 model. The fin flashes, aircraft numbers, nose art, and squadron patches are all crafted by hand to create faithful replicas of the B-1's currently stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base.

Governor Proclaims June “General Aviation Appreciation” Month
PIERRE, S.D. – Gov. Dennis Daugaard has proclaimed June as “General Aviation Appreciation” month in South Dakota.
“Because South Dakota is an agricultural state, general aviation is very important to crop spraying but because of our rural nature, general aviation is also necessary to serve our emergency response and wildland fire needs,” says Secretary of Transportation Darin Bergquist.
