Walk through aviation history with our galleries and aviation exhibits. The SD Air & Space Museum showcases over 30 vintage military aircraft ranging from World War II bombers to the modern-day B-1.

Our aviation exhibits also features many different military missiles on display, including a Minuteman II Intercontinental Ballistic Missile. Our galleries and aviation exhibits are walking tours through America’s rich history in aviation and innovation.

These legendary airplanes and their crews have defended America's interests around the world, flown in harm's way, and protected our rights and freedoms for all Americans. Each exhibit has a fascinating story and ultimately connects to your experience as an American through our unique and patriotic history.

Indoor Exhibits / Galleries

Take a walk through our indoor exhibits and galleries at the SD Air & Space Museum. Our galleries are filled with aerospace exhibits that showcase engineering, innovation, science, and history. Learn about military history, celebrate innovation of aviation, and become inspired for the future of aviation.

Our indoor exhibits include various aircraft showcasing our nation’s rich history and examines several different aspects of aviation from aerospace technology, Cold War history, pioneers of aviation, and aspects of Ellsworth Air Force Base. These stories that our models, aircraft, and other artifacts tell illustrate the importance that aviation has had in not only America’s rich history, but South Dakota’s history.

Outdoor Exhibits

THE MUSEUM OUTDOOR EXHIBTS REMAIN OPEN TO THE PUBLIC - the inside Gallery and Gift Shop will be closed until further notice.

With over 30 outdoor aviation exhibits, don’t miss the fun or the excitement happening every day at the SD Air & Space Museum. Our outdoor exhibits allow visitors to take in the beauty of the Black Hills while experiencing the greatness of various aviation exhibits like the B-1B Lancer or the UH-1F Huey Helicopter. Not only are these nostalgic aviation exhibits restored, but with their important historical stories tied to each piece, they are sure to inspire only further greatness in aviation.
