Do I need a military ID or pass to see the museum?

No, the museum hangars and grounds are located next to Ellsworth Air Force Base, but not on it.

The bus tour though, does take place on Ellsworth Air Force Base, and due to security requirements set by the United States government and U.S. Air Force, bus tour guests must show a driver’s license, Military ID, state issued ID or passport that is compliant with the Real ID Act passed by Congress. Unfortunately, due to the security restrictions established by the Department of Defense, the tour of the base is only available to U.S. citizens and resident aliens. Information on the Real ID Act and state compliance is available on the Department of Homeland Security's website.

What is the cost to enter the museum?

Museum Admission is FREE.

We're sorry to say that all tours are suspended until further notice.  Bus tours are $10.00 for adults, $7.00 for children 11-17 yrs, and $5.00 5-10 yrs. Groups of 10 or more are $7.00 each. Children 4 and under are FREE.

Where is the museum located?

The museum is located approximately 7 miles east of Rapid City on Interstate I-90, just outside the main gate to Ellsworth Air Force Base.

I-90 eastbound traffic use Exit 67B and follow the signs to the museum.
